As it a front wheel drive, it has two half-shafts that go to the two front wheels.
Model Year, 2WD or AWD, And if it is AWD or a 2WD(Front Left-Half shaft) is it your inner or outer? If it is you will need to replace the half-shaft as the inner cv cannot be disassembled.
Most likely the wheel bering in the spindle is broken. Your best bet is to go to a salvage yard and by the whole assembly and repace it. Your other option is to go to a machine shop and have the new bering pressed into the spindle. Good luck!
Trying to fix a cv axle half shaft your self is difficult. Replace it with a rebuilt or new half shaft. The parts to repair yours would cost you more than a complete replacement does.
For both front half shafts it'll run about 300-400 bucks
Assuming this vehicle is front wheel drive, you probably have a bad passenger side half shaft.
Purchase a re-manufactured half-shaft from an auto parts store. The half-shaft comes complete ready to install with a new CV joint. You will spend almost as much for the CV joint kit alone and spend more frustrating time trying to rebuild the old half-shaft.
1 and 11/16 inch
My first thought is that the wheel bearing is failing....replace it soon! The other idea is the front half shaft CV Joint is failing. ( the front wheel drive..drive shaft on the side the noise comes from)
how do you replace half shaft on 2992 ford escape
Look under the vehicle. If there is a drive shaft going from the front half of the vehicle to the back half of the vehicle then it is AWD. If no drive shaft then it is FWD. If you're still not sure after looking at it take it to a shop, they will tell you for free.
Look at the half shaft.
