the back of the watch case comes off but stem recesses into watch works preventing removal of watch works unless stem can be removed
Pop off the back of the pocket watch. I use a sewing pin to achieve this. You will see a circular plastic part with a different shape in the middle that is on top of the battery and keeps the watch face in place. Mine is colored white. Pop that off from the bottom. From there press up underneath the battery. There should be a little groove underneath where the battery is. After that inspect the battery that was already in there. For example: Mine was a V377+ Varta Germany. I bought a Energizer V377 and put it in. It works like a charm. Put the plastic part back on top of the battery. Then pull up on the top of the pocket watch, moving the spinning part of the watch. Carefully put the back of the watch back on, as jiggling it a little will change the time you've so specifically changed. After the back is on, then push down on the top of the pocket watch. This will start the second counter again. Tada. You have changed the battery of a ciprini pocket watch.
As far as pocket watches go, there should be a small knob at the top of the watch, if you twist it it will wind the watch, if you pull it out and twist you can use it to set the clock. But, that is going by a general pocket watch design.

Place the watch face down in the palm of your left hand. Place the palm of your right hand on back of the watch. Push palms together and turn right hand counter-clockwise. Clock back should screw off. I have one watch like that, but this watch has hinges. I can get the first part open, but not the next layer to view the movement. Thanks for trying to help!

In order to take a back off of a Kahuna watch, you must use a small Phillip's screwdriver and remove the tiny screws keeping the back in place. Once you have accomplished that, the back should easily slide off.

If you cannot get the back of your watch back on, to prevent any destruction or further damage, you should take the watch to a professional. anonymous@oola.com
It depends on a few things like how many jewels it has, if its solid gold plated or filled, how many of them were made and its condition. Now the higher number of jewels you have the better quality watch it is. obviously if it solid gold its going to be at least worth its weight in gold, and pocket watch cases are not light so it would be worth a pretty penny. You can check all these things by applying some pressure to the back of the watch and twisting it to the left to take off the back of case. Look for markings and who made the case and it will say if it is gold. Also on top of the mechanics of the watch you will find how many jewels it has the maker of the watch and the serial number.
