A food allergy is naturally obtained by the individual's body thinking that allergens in the food are harmful and sending antibodies to fight it. This gives an allergic reaction. It's basically your body getting confused.
food Allergies can be diagnosed at any time of your life. you can form an immunity to food when your body cant process it or bring it to the right place. they can suddenly trigger at any given time.
There are usually local Asthma and allergy clinics you can visit that are recommended by your doctor. There are a multitude of ways you can be tested. Common procedures include scratch tests and pricks on the forearm as well as drawing blood. The scratch tests are typically preformed on your back, and personally I would not recommend that (SO uncomfortable). For the pricking, the doctors have small containers of common allergens that have teeny needles protruding from them. If need be, they can also mix up a solution if there is a sample of the uncommon allergen on hand (I was once tested for artificial lemon flavoring in a fruit-snack I had brought in). They will first write letters on your arm (H, S and whatever the allergens are you're being tested for; H stands for histamine, S for saline) and prick you with the small needles. They just poke you with a motion similar to stamping, and then you wait for the hives to develop. They use the histamine and saline as a baseline to see how your reactions compare to the actual allergens. Afterwards they measure the hives and go from there.
I have had quite a few experiences in the allergy clinic because I have several allergies myself; though if the information I have presented here is inaccurate please feel free to correct me.
