How do you get rid of Trojan horse Downloader Crypter B?

AVG, Panda, McAfee, and Trojan Hunter were unable to remove Crypter.B so I did a System Restore and then did a search for file which was in the C:\windows\prefetch folder removed it from there and then run AVG again which came up clean. Hope this helps!

AVG found and healed it on my system, but a resident shield message kept poping up saying it was still there . when I run AVG it doesnt find it anymore . any suggestions ? Ive got the 7.0 free trial now and it doesnt find it either . so is it gone ? anyone have similar experience ?

1. Go to \Windows\system32 and delete the infected file (delete from the Recycle Bin also!), in my case was a file named vidcompat.exe2. Edit the registry (regedit), and, using the Search command in Edit menu, do a search of all entries related with the file name vidcompat.exe (be sure that the search is done in all the registry)3. Delete all the found entries!4. Close registry and reboot

In my case it worked. It was the same case with another Trojan named Dluca.k

After avg- has found and removed all ot the viruses EXCEPT the ones in restore, you need to re-install your windows again. That is the only way to get it out of restore. Make sure you do not save your system files when it ask you in Win9x.

Listen you guys. The reason you can't apparently delete this Trojan from your PC, is because it resides in the 'C:\System Volume Information\_restore\...' folder. NO ANTIVIRUS SCANNERS SEARCH THIS DIRECTORY. It is the System Restore directory. If you did a system restore to a few days before, you may be infected with the virus (I can't guarentee you will, though). Anyway, this is the REAL way to clear out all files from that directory. Note: This is for Windows XP, if you have any other operating system, email me at my provided email. I will try to help you out.

1.) Open my computer2.) Right-click the drive with the virus on it (Normally (C:)) and click 'properties'.3.) Click 'Disk Cleanup'.4.) Click the 'More Options' tab.5.) There should be 3 'Clean up' buttons. Click the one at the bottom under the 'System Restore' section.6.) Click 'Yes'7.) Wait until the process is finished and exit out.

You will now need to disable System Restore to complete the procedure.

As far as I know the following should be a general approach.

1.Turn off the System Restore on all drives.It empties the "System Volume Information" -folder, including bugs.

2.Destroy the bug.How to do it depends on the specific bug.

After rebooting turn on the System Restore and all should be fine until the next bug appears ;)
