I'm from Canada land of the beaver. LOL Other posters are right in saying the beavers don't actually eat the wood for food (vegetarians mostly of small tree and shrub shoots, etc.) but their front teeth act like a chisel. Unfortunately, your house is a nice, juicy piece of lumber for their nest or dam. There isn't much to research on damage to houses, but you could call pest control to find out how you could deal with it. Killing beavers in Canada or in some States is illegal. Beavers can be pretty stubborn and if you trash their nest or dam, they will just work harder to reconstruct. Try pest control and see if they have any ideas to offer you. They may have some sort of repellent.
