The best way to remove a sticky residue from plastic is to use a gentle emulsifier. A gentile antibacterial soap and a soft bristle brush can normally get rid of a sticky residue.
Put it in warm water for a few minutes the get one end and pull it slowly. Get residue off with Goo Gone.
Use nail polish remover and a rag to scrub it off.
Reminder tabs that you can stick anywhere and later just pull off and not leave sticky residue.
Pull the paper completely off, then remove the residue with Lift-Off or Goo-Gone

I've found that orange oil is good for removing sticky residues, though you may want to patch test for colour fastness in a hidden area of the object first. The best way to get the residue off is to use hot, soapy water mixed with vinegar. Soak a cloth or wash rag in the solution and apply to the plastic you wish to clean. Rub the cloth over the surface until satisfied. A little bit of elbow grease goes a long way.
I would heat the griddle back up and wipe it off while it is warm.
Buy a product called "Goo-Gone"- it should remove label residue and has a lemon scent
