really? what drive shaft. its a shift tube for the trans. trans is in the rear of the car. its called a trans axle. trans shifts the cv joints which turns the wheels. so you never have to take down the shift tube for no reason theirs a long steel rod inside that tube. that comes from your shifter to the trans.
You have to remove the drive shaft and take to to a machine shop. It has to be pressed off Rob
with the ignition on, but not the engine. press the switch that rises it up and the clips come off the back. then you unclip the front ones and push it out
remove head pull shaft out
Beacuse its so hot, it will overheat if the radiator fan doesn't run after the engine is turned off. It usually will stop itself after 5 mins.
Remove 2 small u-bolts from rear end yoke Pry drive shaft out of yoke Slide front end of drive shaft off front splines
take the four nuts off connecting it too the rear and pull the curl bolts out and push drive shaft toward the transmission and it should come right out
The drive shaft can vibrate due to damage or if the balancing weights fall off. If the weights are lost, you may take the shaft to a shop that has the equipment and have the shaft balanced again for typically under $50.
Remove drive shaft holder clamps round by the gear box undo off hum get wishbone down and pull drive shaft out
to remove carrier bearing, u will need to removbe the drive shaft from the vehicle the carrier bearing is bolted to chassis with 2 bolts . these will need to be removed and the carrier and bearing will come out with the drive shaft one drive shaft is out you can then knock old bearing and carrier off of shaft with a hammer. the old carrier is no good so doesnt matter if you trash it once you get old one off, carefully known new one onto shaft until seated,being careful to note which is front of carrier bearing you can then reinstall cariier bearing and drive shaft to truck. NOTE: now is a good time to check and replace if needed the U-Joints on the drive shaft
The drive wheels either need to be off the ground or the drive shaft has to be removed.
First make drive shaft and yoke to insure tat they are replaced in the same location to maintain factory balance Remove small "U" bolts at yoke Pry drive shaft out of yoke Pull driveshaft off splined end
you dont, if you want to disconnect it then remove your front drive shaft.
