Porsche 944 has heavy white smoke on startup?

Heavy white smoke is indicative of a blown head gasket or cracked head/block. Coolant is probably leaking into the combustion chamber. Run a compression test to further diagnose. Another reason is that you might be burning a lot of oil. does the smoke disappear like steam or say in the air?

Where is crankshaft sensor located on Porsche 944?

There are two of them, and they are located on the clutch bell housing that is bolted to the rear of the motor. They are held down with 10mm bolts that can be accessed if you stand on the drivers side of the engine bay and feed an extension with a swivel down past the wiring on the firewall.

How much would insurance be for a 20 year old male driving a Porsche boxster?

I am a 22 year old male with a 2002 Boxster S. Currently my insurance, in SC with one previous wreck about three years ago and no speeding tickets, with AllState is around $750 a year with the maximum about of coverage for collision, bodily harm, and uninsured/underinsured motorist. Too many variables in rates, you will need to contact an agent for a quote, but I would guess, pretty high.

How do you remove the sun roof from a 944 Porsche?

Unlatch the two roof latches above driver and passenger. Partially press the roof switch on the dash to unlock the bolt. Push roof up manually. You will need to exit the car and reach your arm under the roof to push it open. It is quite heavy and needs some strength to carefully lift it away from the car. It is stored in boot when not in use - on my model Porsche supplied a very snug-fitting zip cover to avoid it getting scratched. To refit roof ensure the wind deflector at front of roof opening is verical then carefully place roof onto the deflector before lowering into place. This also requires some strength. I think it would be difficult for a person of slight stature. Finally reclip latches and press roof open switch to test ok.

WHAT WOULD CAUSE no oil pressure in my 944 turbo?

Indication? Bad sending unit. Bad gauge. Bad wiring between the two.

Actual No Pressure? Leaking front crankshaft seal. Not enough torque on the crankshaft pulley bolt and the oil pump gear can slip (should be 190 ft/lbs I think). Worn pump gears, but this is rare.

How do you repair the exterior door handles on a 1987 Porsche 944?

They are the same as on a mid 70's to early 90's water cooled VW. The only difference is they don't say "porsche" across them like the later model 944 handles do. They are dirt cheap - like $14 complete. Just remove yours and swap out the lock core with your old one.

Digestive System

1985 944 Porsche have had the ac system evacuated What if the system will not let you recharge it It acts like something is blocking the line What could this be?

O.K. You are asking for a lot in this question, but to answer your question GENERALLY I would say that in the majority of cases I see on a daily basis involving compressors and/or systems that 'will not accept a charge', the problem is a bad compressor suction valve plate. This is, of course, not the only possibility, but the most likely without further information and evaluation. Whenever a compressor has been run under duress for whatever reason, the compressor will suffer from excess heat, which can and does cause the valve plate(s) to fail. When this happen (on the suction side), the compressor will not 'pull' refrigerant in, which appears to be a 'blockage' to the novice. Of course, mechanical failure (number of miles/number of years on a vehicle) can also cause this. The absolute test, of course, is to have a professional shop introduce refrigerant with a charging cylinder, which does not rely on the compressor to 'pull' the refrigerant in (among other things), and once properly charged, the compressor can be tested and evaluated correctly. Good luck SDIgroup

Porsche 944

How can you check the timing belt in a 96 Acura Integra LS like the service shop would during routine service?

Some car companies tell you to replace the timing belt every 60k -100k miles, I would go by that. because there is really no way to check if the timing belt is bad because some simply snap, some may lose their teeth before they snap and this can cause major problems in itself, but you want to have the timing belt replaced before any of this happpens. so go by the recommended service interval for your car. It is an expensive part to replace because it is somewhat time-consuming, and you will want to replace the water pump and the other belts while you are in there.
