To remove the fuel line at the FUEL FILTER, you will need the small fuel-line disconnect TOOL from the Auto Parts store. It is not expensive and IS reusable. It looks similar to a pair of small wire strippers...but you insert the tool around the fuel line fitting (on the end closest to the engine) and depress it until the spring lock releases. It takes some patience to do and be careful you don't lose the little spring when it pops or falls out after unlocking the fuel line from the filter.
Your fuel lines have fitting that can be taken off with simple disconnects from Autozone. Tell them you need Ford fuel line disconnects. Just clamp the disconnect on and pull the line off and change the filter. Someone at AZ will tell you how. -bronomudder89
The 1992 Ford Ranger does not have a fuel pump shutoff switch. You can disable the fuel pump by removing the fuel pump fuse.
Do you mean fuel filter hose? That would be the supply gas line. Please reword.

According to the 2004 Ford Ranger Owner Guide : The fuel pump shut off switch ( inertia switch ) is under the right side of the glove compartment , just above the carpet

pull off the wires then disconnect the fuel rail then pull up on the injectores

Check under the truck about in line with the seat . You may need special tools to change it. the fuel pump for a 2002 ranger is located in the gas tank. pulling the bed off is easier than dropping the tank for this repair
