antiqueguns.com has a link to serial number lists that will find the age of a model 94. This is only one small part of determining the value. Guns made before 1899 are officially antiques by ATF regulations, any Winchester made before 1964 has more value to collectors than shooters in the higher grades, and those made later are just valued as useful tools. Then there are dozens of variations in the Model 94's: special order barrel lengths, round or octagonal barrels, carbines with or without saddle rings, special sights and triggers, etc, etc. Collectors want the guns in original condition and configuration and for most 94's a letter is available from the Cody Museum telling exactly how it was configured when it left the factory. Shooters are also very interested in condition, but any alterations from original condition may be a plus or minus to a particular buyer.
