How do you get the windshield washer container out of the engine compartment 1979-C3-350?

I had the same problem on my 77 when the washer pump went out. I asked around to several dealer shops about taking it out and they said "you don't." I ended up using a razor knife and cutting around the top on three sides (not all the way). This allowed me to get it out and replace the pump. I then put it back in and used a hot glue gun to seal it back together then remounted it. Don't glue it back together before you replace it under the fender, you'll never get it back in. Hope this helps.
