The battery is located under the seat, right next to the tool kit. It's very easy accessible.
Use your bike's key on the keyhole on the right side under the saddle, on the cover. This will unlock the seat and you will see the battery! Important: Remove black (-) cable first!
It might take a little force to get the seat back in position…

Yamaha says it is 53.1. It is right on bike's title.
By the battery, underneath the seat locking mechanism. Remove the seat, take out the two bolts holding the locking mechanism to the frame and underneath that you will find the fuse box.

Not sure what the problem is, just wanted to tell you that my 2005 V Star was doing the same thing. Took it in to be looked at and found that the bulbs in the light bar were too big. They were 55w and only needed 35w. Replaced the bulbs and have not killed the battery since.
950 indicates silver content.......s v is most likely the silversmith that designed the piece
Remove the battery head(+v) for a while, then replace it and star the engine.
