If it's anything like a 95 Suburban, the brake light switch is actually attached to the actual brake pedal bars that go through the fire wall down by the floor of the car. It's a little cream colored plastic thing and it should just unclip from the bar and slide off of the end of the cross bar down there. There might even be a little clip on the end of the cross bar, but it should just slide off. If you've been having problems with it it could just be an out of place connection the thing will just pop open and you could try and fix it. They also sell them at advanced auto parts.
A bad brake light switch, and it is bolted to the steering column in under the dash.

I think it is next to the brake pedal at the top. When you press on brake the switch button comes out putting the elect to the light bulb. May just need another brake light switch at an auto store. look up under dash to the top of brake pedal arm you should see switch next to steering col-um .
