All you have to do is make sure the battery is correctly positioned inside the laptop, turn the laptop on and plug it in. Mine charges when it's turned off also, but not all laptops have this feature.
If your battery no longer charges or does not hold its charge, it might be worn out. Contact the manufacturer of your computer to buy a replacement.

∙ 14y agoIn theory, if it's a new one you should have some form of instructions with it which would give you information specifically for that battery. That aside, as a general rule, put the battery into the laptop and leaving the laptop switched off but the mains supply switched on, leave it for a period of around 12 hours.
