You don't. Don't spank your 11 year old child! Try something a bit less painful, like positive reinforcement or taking something away. It would help if you gave more information as well, like exactly what he did. Spanking can just make your child upset and mad at you, not helping in the long run. Try more peaceful alternatives! =^w^=

∙ 8y agoYou don't. He's almost a teen. And are you sure he's just lazy? Talk to him. There can be many reasons why he is not doing his homework and don't like school. Sit with him and help him with the homework and you'll see if he understand it or not. Spanking will never let you know if something is wrong. He will not confide in you after you've done that.

∙ 8y ago12 is too old for spanking. A much better punishment would be depriving him of privileges like using his cellphone or watching TV or staying out with his friends or all of the above.
