The most common reason for a speedometer to fail is a broken speedometer cable. Loosen the nuts on each end of the speedometer cable. Remove the speedometer cable retaining clips. Reverse the process to install the new speedometer cable.
Yes , I BELIEVE the last year for a speedometer cable on a Ford Explorer was the 1995 model year so the 1991 Ford Ranger would definitely have a speedometer cable
Answerreplace the speedometer cable. the problem will get worse, before it brakes. there is no cure but replacement My 1989 Ford had a gear on the transmission that had to be replaced, cable was okay. Easier than replacing cable if it is like a Ford.
You can replace the speedometer cable, on your 1988 Ford Ranger, by loosening the cable nut on each end of the cable. The cable will come off and can then be replaced.
As far as I know the 1995 Ford Explorer is the last model year to have a conventional speedometer cable ( so yes )
I believe that 1995 was the last year for a conventional speedometer cable on a Ford Explorer , and then Ford went to an electronic speedometer with a vehicle speed sensor
there isn't one it is an electronic sensor in the transmission check your connections and if they are good then the sensor needs replacing
The speedometer sensor is in the top of your rearend housing.
I don't believe it has one , the Ford Explorers 1996 and newer models don't have a conventional speedometer cable , they have an electronic speedometer and a vehicle speed sensor ( VSS )
on the 94 aspire the speed cable connects to the speedometer and goes through the firewall and to the wheel
how 2 change a 1999 speedo cable
pop the hood and look right at where the back of the dash is the should be a cable coming out at that spot that's the speedometer cable
