Yes, you can. When your chicken pieces are large and more meaty, they may cook on the grill on the outside and still be a little pink on the inside. You can cook them for 20 minutes in a 350 degree F oven and then transfer them to the grill to finish cooking. You can also reverse this, cook the chicken on the grill and then place in the 350 degree F oven for 20 minutes.

If your chicken pieces are smaller and not as meaty, you probably won't need to do this, as they should cook completely on the grill.

You certainly could. Sometimes chicken cooked on the grill will finish on the outside before the inside gets done. To check for doneness, pierce the chicken in a meaty area with a knife. If the juices are pinkish, it is not done. If the juices run out clear, it is done. If it isn't done, you can remove the chicken from the grill and bake in a preheated oven at 250 degrees F for about 30 minutes to ensure the chicken is done.

Precooking larger chicken pieces is sometimes recommended before grilling. Although marinading should be done before baking, the chicken wont accept much afterwords. Always add moister during grilling, especially if the meat is precooked.

One popular way of cooking an entire chicken is using a beer can. Clean the chicken and rub it down with your favorite spices or rub. Open the can of beer and set it on the grill and then sit the chicken on the can, shoving it up into the open cavity. The steam from the beer will both flavor the chicken and help it cook.

You need to use a grill pan or broiler pan. This allows the grease and fat to drip away from the chicken as it cooks. You can use the normal oven or the broiler to do it.
