Green is the hot wire for my 2004 Chevy Colorado.
The large red wire is the battery or hot wire.
If you cannot change the temperature from cold to hot on an Equinox or Pontiac Torrent, a common cause is a broken temperature door. This is a very difficult repair.------------------------

where does the hot wire come from going to the distributor on a chevy 350
typically the cable is black and your hot wire is red. If this is not the case the battery is marked with plus and minus symbals. The ground wire comes off the frame and can be traced down that way as well. Hope this helps That is not the case with the equinox. The manual states that it is in the vicinity of the dip stick; however, no arrow indicates the exact location. I'm having difficulty finding it also.
The Dark Green Wire should be the hot to the air compressor clutch and Black should be ground.
im stuck and I need help
Try going to a LIGHTER weight of engine oil. That should solve it.
You can check for an instruction sheet at the manufacturer's website, but most tachs have a black wire for ground, a red wire that is hot, a white wire that is hot, and a green wire that goes to the negative or tach terminal of the coil.
The hot wire bypasses the ignition.
