The block heater ( if equipped ) is a heating element installed in place of a freeze plug.

Remove the water from your 1998 Chevy Camaro cooling system. Remove the water supply hoses from the heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.

You have to pull tranny. it is sandwiched between that & block, but pretty straight forward.

the block heater is located on the right hand side of the back of the engine block. it has a 3cable flat wire going to it. it is under the A/C hoses routed there. it is about four inches from the front of the engine ( where the serpentine belt is)
