start by taking the distibutor cap off, the bring the #1 cylinder up to tdc (top dead center) then see were the rotor is pionting. then remove the hold down plate & remove the distibutor. next drop the new distibutor in making sure you put the rotor-gear in the same place the old rotor was. tighten the plate bak down then start the car if the car does not start or it has a miss then turn the distibutor till the motor either starts or the miss is gone. then you will need to time it with a timing light, if you don't have one take it to a shop and they will tune it for you for less than nothing.

Buy a manual transmission that will bolt to your engine configuration, clutch assembly, drive shaft, et cetera. Install said parts and presto, you'll have a manual transmission car.
This is a major mechanical project. Remove the clutch and manual transmission and the radiator. Install automatic transmission, new driveshaft, new radiator. You have just spent as much as a car is worth.
you can install an automatic transmission, but i wouldn't try one from a v6 unless your motor is a v6 as well

Lift the camshaft position sensor assembly from the distributor housing Camshaft Position Sensor INSTALLATION Install camshaft position sensor to distributor. Align sensor into notch on distributor housing. Connect wiring harness. Install rotor. Install distributor cap. Tighten mounting screws. Install air cleaner assembly.
