take the tranny out and the flywheel is right on back of the engine, unbolt the flywheel and take it off and install new flywheel with new bolts and torque them down.
Flywheel clutch face surface facing out and line the bolt holes up. That's the only way it can go.
Separate the tranny and engine...It's in there.
starter gear is to close to flywheel install starter shim
To install the clutch on a 1987 Honda Civic the transmission will need to be taken off. Remove all the components to drop the transmission. Once removed loosen the bolts that hold the flywheel and clutch disks. Replace the parts.
yes you can and you must have on right or starter will bind up
turn the flywheel with a big screwdriver
It is easier to do if you install the torque convertor to the transmission and then attempt to bolt it to the flywheel. You will have to turn the convertor or flywheel to line up the bolt holes.
remove the transmission and take the bolts out of the flywheel on back of the engine and install the new one and tighten the bolts back up, you will have to find out what the bolts are torqued at as I'm not sure.
I have repaired many geo metro 1.0,, 5 speeds and have changed out the flywheel. This does not require to be installed the same as it came off. The flywheels have been balanced when machined and doesn't require to be installed any certain way..
Remove either the engine or transmission, remove the pressure plate from the existing flywheel and examine both the pressure plate and clutch plate, unbolt the flywheel from the crankshaft and remove it. If there are many miles on the clutch, don't even TRY to reuse it. Examine/replace the glan nut/pilot bushing as necessary and lubricate according to specifications. Bolt the NEW flywheel onto the crankshaft. Using a pilot shaft, install the clutch plate/pressure plate assembly. Make sure the shaft can be removed easily and that the clutch plate is centered exactly on the pilot shaft. Install the engine or transmission. If you haven't done one before, good luck.
remove old engine and install new engine including exhaust and accessory brackets and pulleys. everything should fit. be sure to use a 454 flywheel with 454. smallblock flywheel will work on 396,402,427
