I found a easy diagram... that's what I was looking for... and no i do not have a spring loaded tnsioner in my 1996 Cherokee sport 4.0 l engine. I have the bolt type tensioner. You do not have to monkey with the bolts on the Power Steering pump.
Loosen the idler bolt, and loosen the tensioner bolt. install belt, tension belt, tighten idler bolt.away you go.
(I had a picture here but it did not show up.)

how to install a drive belt on a 2000 jeep wrangler 2.5 liter
Not one penny. The 1996 Jeep Cherokee does not have a timing belt. It has a timing chain.
Need to know what year, model, and engine size!!
remove old belt install new belt you're welcome
Yes
The ajustment bolt for the belt is under the power steering pump.
yeah it will just make sure u install it right
I suggest you purchase a receiver type hitch. They come with complete instructions.
Check out 2carpro's.com, they have some great diagrams of belt routing.
Install a new one. It's squeeling most likely because it is getting stretched.
there were no 1996 jeep wranglers
Remove the serpentine belt. Remove the harmonic balancer. Pry it off the crankshaft. Install new seal, replace balancer and belt.
