This is called surface tension.
When the pin is pushed into the cup the polystyrene (Styrofoam) is temporarily pushed aside. When the pin is withdrawn the polystyrene reforms largely to its original location. If a drill was used, the same diameter as the pin and material was actually removed the cup would leak. Also the water tension of the water in front of a hole the size of a pin would prevent the water from leaking out.
To *demonstrate*, float a dressmaker's pin or a needle on water. If you can do it safely, you can also float an old-fashioned razor blade. Then just tap them and sink them. That should get the conversation going.... ... and you can even have fun dragging them around the container with a magnet, plus - if you magnetise the pin/needle - you've got a rudimantary compass. p.s. the reason you get badly injured/ killed falling from altitude into water *is not* surface tension - pleeassse don't spread that myth!

In North America the neutral pin is used to complete the circuit. One pin is "hot", one pin is neutral and the last pin is ground.
Because of surface tension on the top of the water. Surface tension is when the water molecules stick together allowing a small, light object to "float" on the surface. If you genitally pushed on the pin after is settled on the water, you would break the surface tension and the pin would sink.
15 mm wrench Put it on the tension pulley and pull to take tension off belt
This is called surface tension.
take it to a mechanic
tension control
It just has a spring inside and tension is released when pin depressed
Release the tension on the belt using the tension pulley. Install new belt. I have a diagram for a 2002 will sent it and more detailed info if you email me at msgt4sped@aol.com
AnswerPut tensioner in vise careful not to damage it, squash the pin back inside and align hole, put a paper clip into it...reinstall w/ new belt and remove paper clip ....and tension is on belt and ready for service. The paper doesn't work need steel pin long enought that you can pull out after belt installation.
Surface tension of the water

To remove the shift knob on the 1999 Olds Intrigue look for the pin that is holding the knob in place. Remove the pin and pull up on the knob, replace kob and pin.
