There is like 4 or 6 screws on top of the air box. Take the screws out and remove the old filter, clean out the box and put in the new filter.
Look at owners manual for more instructions.
Job takes about 5 minutes.
There is no cabin air filter on the 2003 Chevy avalanche
There is no cabin air filter in the 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. Someone is offering a kit so you can install cabin air filters because General Motors deleted that feature. You can find the kit thru the Avalanche fan club.
It is in the large hose going from the air filter to the throttle plate.
Looks like in 2003 and newer Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, and Avalanche vehicles, they no longer have an in cabin air filter.
2007+ GMT900, NBS (GM New Body Style) have no cabin air filter by design. There is an aftermarket option to install one....if really need one. I think GM blocked the area where you install the filter.

Just off the air box, where the air filter goes; you'll see a wire harness coming off of it.
Get at it through the glove box
The 2003 Ford f250 did not come with an air cabin filter. There was a dealer install option but very few were ever put in.
The air filter on a 2003 Chevrolet 2500HD with a Duramax engine is installed by opening the access panel under the glove compartment. The old filter can then be removed and a new filter installed.
Remove the air box cover and install the filter. You may have to remove the inlet tube(It does make it ewasier( Only took required is a flat screwdriver
The filter is located behind the Glove Compartment.
