How do you install cruise control on a 2000 crown Victoria?

You have to remove the steering wheel that has no buttons for the cruise and replace it with one that does. Then you have to install a servo under the hood on the driver side fender. The cable that hooks to the throttle assembly is attached to the servo unit. You will notice a wireharness with a plastic block in it. You will need to remove the clip in the harness as it is only there to jump 2 of the pins in that harness so that the horn will operate. That harness will plug right into the servo. All the wiring is there from the column to the underneath the hood from the factory. Everything is basically plug and play. It is cheapest to purchase the Cruise units from a salvage yard for between $100-$200 depending on the salvage yard. 2005 and up only require the steering wheel change and the PCM to be flashed sometimes as these vehicles have had the throttle cable eliminated and are now drive by wire. Make sure the bracket and the 10mm nuts that hold the bracket in the plastic portion of the fender well so that you may attach it in its respective location.

PAY ATTENTION TO INFORMATION BELOW

DO NOTE: The airbag must be removed from the steering wheel so that you may get down to the TORX style bolt in the center of the steering wheel. Unplug the battery cables and let the airbag computer discharge the voltage for a while prior to steering wheel airbag removal. If you do not follow these instructions this could result in deployment of the airbag! There are some plastic caps on the back side of the steering wheel and they are 7mm or 8mm bolts. Once these are removed the airbag will come right out and you just unplug the wire. You really need to follow the information about the airbag system as the incorrect servicing can result in serious injury should the airbag deploy by accident. DO NOT connect the battery cables until you are completely done to ensure this does not happen.
