How do you install my car stereo to have constant power for memory?

depending on the stereo,most I have installed will have a power wire,some times yellow orange or red,and there will be a blue for power antenna,one of the power wires will connect to the ignition side of the fuse box,(this will only have 12 volts when the key switch is on)and the memory wire will connect to a constant power supply,like the battery or the fuse box that where there is 12 volts with the key on or off,make sure there are the correct size fuses inline for each positive wire

theres supposed to be a wire in the harness that gives the radio constant power so it remembers the stations. your constant/memory power is not working tihs wire is usually yellow... this provides a constant power to your stereo..where the red wire is your switch 12v power and gives the stereo power when you turn the key.... 2 wires need to be changed around as vauxhall made it hard to put in aftermarket stereos or so the guy at motor world told me in my case the 2 wires were the permenant memory (orange) plugged into the ingnition (red) and vise versa there are connection pins that allow you to do this

You could have shorted the stereo out, if so there is no way to check that. You might have to get a new head unit. Two wires have to have power in order for the stereo to power on: the 12 - volt constant (this gives power to the stereo even when the key is off for clock and setting memories) and the 12 - volt switchable (which tells the stereo the car is on and powers up the stereo). Remove the stereo plug from the back of the stereo - if two of the wires in the plug have power when the key is in the on-position (use a test light grounded to something metal) then the stereo is bad. If only one wire has power, you have a bad fuse or bad wire. If the constant wire is bad, simply jump a new wire to a constant fuse on the block such as the horn fuse (or run it straight to the battery and use an inline fuse). If the switchable wire is bad, tap into a wire at the fuse block that switches off with the ignition.
