Jack up the wheel and remove the tire. Ensure the car is supported well and then move into the brake. There is a safety wire on the back holding 2 pins from falling out. Simply remove the wire and pull out the pins. Then take something you can pry with and separate the old pads. Once you can remove the old pads try and fit the new ones in. If they don't fit put the old ones back and pry some more.
Reverse the order to install.

A 1986 Toyota 4x4 uses the same pricipals as a Nissan p/u or pathrinder. Meaning you need to diassemble the hub for the front wheel for the 4x4 once this is done you remove the rotor from the spindle plate and then to the reverse to install should take that long about an hour per side
