The car won't run, or
the car run but then stops as if it run out of fuel.
The fuel pump relay is locate behind the fuse box.
The fuse box is located behind the ashtray.
To replace it:
Remove the ashtray
After you remove the ashtry, pull the cigarrete lighter out, pull the cover of the lighter, remove two Philips screws and remove the box above the ashtray.
the fuel pump relay will be the one on the second row,far left side
Bypass the relay and if the pump works the relay is bad.
Swap the fuel pump relay with another like relay in the fuse/relay center. If the problem with the fuel pump goes away, the relay was bad. If not, knowing GM fuel pumps, the fuel pump is the problem.
need to know where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1994 Chevy cavalier? Changed fuel pump and fuel filter, not starting when turning ignition. need to know where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1994 Chevy cavalier? Changed fuel pump and fuel filter, not starting when turning ignition. A. the fuel pump relay is located under the hood on the passenger side. its on a block of three there are two that are black. one of the black ones is your fuel pump relay. When you change your fuel pump you always want to change your fuel pump relay.
check fuel pump relay , pump itself may be gone after 100K miles
In most vehicles you can remove the fuel pump fuse or fuel pump relay as the engine is running, the engine will stall when the pressure is gone.
Take the relay out and hot wire the pump. If it works, its not the pump.
If you turn on the ignition key without starting the engine you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. If you do not check the fuel pump fuse and replace the relay before proceeding. If the fuse is good and the relay is good then you know the pump is more than likely defective.
i need to know where the relay for the fuel pump is located in the engine
A 2005 PT Cruiser does have a fuel pump relay. They have a fuel pump relay rather than a fuel pump switch. The fuel pump relay is located in the fuse box.
I believe that you can switch the Horn Relay with the Fuel Pump Relay and if the horn no longer works and the Fuel Pump does then that relay went bad... try that, its a sure fire way to know whats wrong... If it checks out good it might be a Defective Fuel Pump.
You will know by checking to see if you have voltage on both the low side and the high side. This relay is just a device that controlled by a low amp circut that closes and opens the circut for the high amp circut which would be the fuel pump feed. You can change the relay from the horn relay or other similar relay and swap them to see if you problem is gone.
I doubt that it would be the fuel pump relay. If it's a throttle body injection vehicle, the injector could be stuck. But you wouldn't get ANY fuel into the engine if the fuel pump isn't working. Relay can be tested by turning key on but not starting. if you hear fuel pump 'HUMM', you know pump and relay are working. If no firing at keystart and experiencing flooding, not a fuel pump issue. There is a spark issue of some kind.
