The switch on the brake pedal is disconnected or defective. The shifter interlock has to get a signal from the switch to know the pedal is being pressed before it will release the shifter.
There may be a problem inside the transmission, or the linkage could be loose or disconnected in some way.
If the relay is faulty, it just needs replacing to work. The switch would never need to be disconnected just to use the car.

Sometimes it is hard to tell when it is time to make the switch from an hold car to a new used car. The best way to know is to be aware how much you are spending on your current to repair it, if it is taking a lot of money, take in the consideration to buy a new used car.
Yes. A disconnected vacuum line will cause the engine not to idle at a constant rpm, therefore causing the car to shake.
I presume you're asking about a daylight running light switch? As far as I know, there is no such switch in a Sunfire. They're on when the car is running and is gear. FriPilot
Im not sure what you mean by RELAY brake light switch. There is 1 brake light switch on the brake pedal. Check it with an OHM meter, wires disconnected brake off should be "open" (no connection) press the pedal and should have no resistance (0 OHMS)
