On my 1997 Grand Cherokee Limited, you could feel the slip - especially after backing up first thing in the morning and then shifting into Drive.
My dad has a 1995 and he had slip issues too.
The fix was simple for both Jeeps - check the Transmission Fluid level. As little as one pint of lost fluid can make the transmission start slipping. It seems like such a small amount given the capacity of the transmission but filling to the correct level fixed the slip on both Jeeps.
Do not over fill.It worked for me and might not for you - but it is a quick and inexpensive first thing to check.
Having the speedometer jump and the engine stall in the 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo could be a problem with the idle and the transmission. The transmission slipping can cause the speedometer to jump.
it will fit but the electronics in it are different so no

Chrysler 42RE.
Laredo is the base model of Jeeps like the Cherokee after 1996. The limited is the top of the line. Before 96 it was the mid level model
The transmission solenoids are inside the transmission on top of the valve body.
