gearbox u mean transmission or motor either way u should have a dipstick on each one
You know the heater hose on a vehicle needs replacing when it beings to swell and soften. The heater hose runs from the intake manifold to the heater core.
The reverse light sensor switch on the gearbox needs replacing. The switch is normally located on top of the gearbox & around the middle of underneath the air intake box.
i dont think it`s a problem with your fuse, it more than likely needs the speedo sensor(mounted on the gearbox) replacing, cost is about

If its leaking or has been bent or crushed it needs replacing.

You won't know it needs replacing - it fails catastrophically, without any symptoms. Factory recommended replacement mileage is 95,000 miles. If you have passed that mileage you are living on borrowed time.
Take it off and take it to a good auto parts store for testing.

If it is leaking it needs replacing. If you have no heat and the inlet heater hose is hot and the outlet is cool, it is stopped up and may need replacing, if it cannot be flushed out.
how old is the astra? but more importantly what engine and gearbox does it have? early engines with certain manual gearboxes you can change the clutch without removing the gearbox and subsequently saving about 4hours labour time. otherwise it is a gearbox outjob.
