If a Gerbil is glossy and is growing fur then you are feeding it enough. Usually gerbils are happy if they have a mate or companion in the same cage and are provided regularly with food. Gerbils often respond to music and I have found with my Gerbils that they enjoy Classical Music with a woman singing. You can tell if they are relaxed if they are half closing their eyes. I own a gerbil. When he is happy he seems to squeak a lot. Also, he/she may get hyper and run and jump a lot. also if you hold it believe it or not gerbils purr you cant see it or hear it but you cant feel it

∙ 15y agoyour mice will be happy as long as they have plenty of space, fresh food and water and lots of toys, suchs as cardboard to chew on and newspaper to sleep in, a clean cage, and of coarse, lots and lots of love. the best way to tell if your mice are happy is if they are eager to try new foods (but some mice dont like new foods, most do!), they they have bright eyes, and that they keep their fur looking clean and shiny, and that they are playing. adding new items can brighten the day for a mouse. hope that helped!
