The engine will:
- Not warm up at all, This should set a code on the computer
- Will warm up very slowly, This should set a code
- Will only warm up to a lower temperature than it should, this may not set a code
- The engine may warm up properly but continue to warm up until it overheats
- The engine may warm up until it is either at the correct temperature or too hot then cool down until it is too cold and repeat the cycle.
All of these are symptoms of a bad thermostat.
