Firstly, the loss of acceleration that you are used to having, and second, most likely an irritating scraping noise when it turns.
Turbo's usually last for about 150,000 miles of normal use. If the driver continually does fast accelerations every time and all the time, the life decreases by a third.
If the seals in the turbo are bad on either side it would cause smoking. A sure way to tell is to inspect the turbo for sings of leakage into either the compressor (intake) or turbine (exhaust) sides of the turbo. EXCESSIVE shaft play can is also a tell-tale sign.
Look on the exhaust system for the turbo unit.
if you don't know this, you shouldn't drive an rx7...look at the engine...do you see a turbo???
It is quiet obvious when you have a turbo because when you accelerate you hear a whistling sound. The turbo noise is unmistakable.
A broken what?
you have a belt driven turbo? how old is that car turbos were belt or chain driven when first invented to keep planes in the air. i know of know car with a belt driven turbo
i dont know either i got 350 turbo no forward but have reverce if anyone finds out let me know ....rebuild is about 800.
It might be a worn/broken motor mount.
Short answer: No. As far as I know, the VR6 was never turbo stock from the factory. The only egines that came with turbo were the 4 cylinder 1.8T and the TDI (diesel).
You know if it is broken if you take it out of the vehicle, test it and nothing happens.
I don't have the full answer but I know it was made in 89.5 - 91 without turbo and 92 and on with turbo..
Yes.... It will either say 2.4 Turbo or 2.4 High Output Turbo. How do I know?... I own 2 2005 GT Turbo cruisers... both have the HO logos on the rear passenger side. I've seen the other ones on the non h/o...... Howard Yes.... It will either say 2.4 Turbo or 2.4 High Output Turbo. How do I know?...
