If you drove your car for too long and the pads were worn out then there will be small grooves or either big grooves from were the metal was rubbing against the rotor. If it has big grooves in it then they probably need to be changed or on some you can turn your rotor around and still use it. If it has small grooves it should be ok. Hope this is some help to you.
when needing brakes do you have to replace the rotors to on a s60r
If the distributor shaft has side to side play it is probably worn out. If the shaft has no play just replace the cap and rotor.
your pads will have a feeler guage on them. usually its on the outer side. you change them when that guage is closr to the rotor. if it is touching the rotor you will hear a grinding noise. wait too long and you will need to have the rotor replaced or turned. good luck.
if you take you hand and rube across the rotor and it feels rough or if there is a grove in it then that bad, a rotor should away be as smooth as possible, depending on how thick the rotor it you might can get the rotoe turned if it isn't too late
Yes you can replace your brake pads but it would be cheaper if you wait until you need a new rotor. I recommended waiting because its way better than replacing it before you need a new rotor.
You need to get the rotor off to replace studs with new ones.
Replace rotor / cut rotor & replace brakes.
Sounds to me like you need to replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires and rotor. If the condition still persists, replace the distributor cap.
If one rotor is in need of replacement, the other is sure to need it soon afterwards. I always replace such things in pair as a preventative maintenance issue.
Can I reuse a resurfaced brake rotor with a new rotor on a car
T-40 bit!
If you feel pulsating, shudder, or vibrating, when you come to a stop, your rotors are warped. Remove the rotor and take it to a machine shop and see if it can be turned and resurfaced. Usually this can be done one time unless the rotor is badly damaged. The machine shop will determine if it can be resurfaced. If not, you will need to purchase a new rotor. Make sure to replace the brake pads even if they look good when replacing or resurfacing the rotor.
