press the "load" button. The CD player will ask you which slot? Use the number buttons to select a slot 1-6. It will move to that slot and open the door. Insert the CD, and then hit load again, and it will ask you which slot again. Repeat this process up to 6 CDs.
According to the 1999 Mercury Sable Owner Guide : The 6 disc CD changer is in the trunk ( or if it is a wagon , the passenger side storage compartment in the cargo area )
six CD's ( factory changer )
Passenger side tail light corner is where my changer is
Your best bet would be to find the CD changer the same as the brand of your radio. Such as Kenwood radio, get a kenwood CD changer. The factory CD changer will not work with most newer radios installed. And unless you like running wires to the back of your SUV it would save you lots of time to get another CD changer. That is what I did and it works just fine.
If you can solder, obtain the schematics for the factory unit and purchase the correct connector for the CD changer. You could perform some "surgery" and install the connector into the factory unit.
Yes, there are universal cd changers sold
2003-2004 the amp is located behind the driver seat under the pockets that contain the factory changer
the factory fitted one in mine is under the drivers seat
The Pioneer units will need to have an adapter to work with most factory recievers.
it is on the left side of the trunk behind the CD changer.
if i was to guess i would say behind the factory stereo, of maybe its the monsoon it could be on the factory amp.
A 2005 Mustang should fit any CD changer you want, but may require some equipment to make it fit properly.
