It is actually really unhealthy to do so, even if you stopped eating altogether you wouldn't be able to lose so many pounds so soon. Dieticians will tell you that it's actually healthier and safer to lose weight gradually over a long period of time, this also makes it easier to keep off those pounds you worked hard to lose. Exercise and eating healthy is alway the best way, I wanted to lose some weight a while back and to do so I cut down my caloric intake to a lower (but still healthy) number. I ended up losing 30 pounds, but I did it over the course many months.
