You will need to be sure that the chocolate that you use does not already contain vanilla. The ingredient label should tell you. Most Baking Chocolate ("100%") does not contain vanilla. Then use any recipe and leave out the vanilla if it is called for. The quantity is so small that it should have no effect on how the frosting turns out. Cocoa powder almost never contains vanilla, so a recipe based on cocoa powder without added vanilla will also be fine.

Mix powdered sugar with a TINY bit of warm water (a little goes a LONG way!). You can add some cream of tartar and beat it, too, if you would like, with some egg whites to make it thicker and harder. Also, you can add in other flavoring (fruit, fruit juice, peppermint oil, lavender oil, almond extract, ect.) or some foor coloring.

Yes, but you would have to use fresh vanilla beans to create the same or even better flavor. Vanilla beans may or may not be in your local grocery store, depending on where you live. Hope I helped! :)

You cannot make real chocolate icing without using chocolate of some sort. You can, however, make chocolate icing with cocoa, which is the basis of all chocolate, along with butter and sugar.

You can also make imitation chocolate icing by incorporating artificial "chocolate" flavor and brown coloring.

Carob is another product that is sometimes substituted for chocolate. Some people think the taste is similar, and it does not cause problems for anyone allergic to cocoa and chocolate.

You could melt chocolate and mix it with cream cheese. Or just put melted chocolate on your brownies or cake.

Try
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup milk
---------------
6 ounces Chocolate Chips

Melt the first ingredients and then add the chocolate chips and boil for one minute. Use immediately.

What is the recipe for a vanilla and chocolate cake?

There are hundreds of variations for vanilla and chocolate cakes individually. It sounds like you want a recipe for a cake that is both vanilla and chocolate. If that's correct, you can make the batter for vanilla and for chocolate. Put half the vanilla in the pan, pour half the chocolate in a circle and then swirl them with a spoon to make a marble cake. You could make one layer chocolate and one vanilla or you could make the cake vanilla and the frosting chocolate (or vice versa).

What is a substitute for vanilla extract when frosting a cupcake?

I have used rum extract, almond extract, anise extract, and a bit of whiskey or vodka, or nothing at all, in place of vanilla in many different recipes including frosting. All without substantially causing a failure in the recipe. [The peppermint frosting went on chocolate cupcakes.] The vanilla is only to give the frosting a flavor other than just bland. Experiment at will.

How much mint should I add to make a chocolate cake into a mint chocolate cake?

This is more of a matter of taste I'd say, however, I'd suggest using Mint Extract in place of the normal vanilla. Vanilla extract is called for in most chocolate cake recipes, it enhances the chocolate flavoring, to make a mint cake, just substitute a mint extract for the vanilla.

Can you replace vanilla powder for vanilla extract in a recipe?

Yes, but it may take more powder to receive the same affect of its liquid cousin. You will want to make sure that the all of the powder dissolves, so add it to the eggs, oil, or butter called for in the recipe. It is also a great hot beverage flavoring.
