I'm not going to tell you it's not possible, but you would be far better off if you used, or found a yr, make, model, and engine specific harness for you cars exact set up, this is because their are differance's in most if not all harnesses, especilly if your running a MPI FI on the engine itself.
Find the right harness and you'll thank yourself, no adaptation's, all the correct connectors, ect.
Don't fool around with your car's ECU configuration, the basic set up I mean, an incorrcect harness can fry, your ECU, among other expensive component's.

A 1977 caprice was using the same 267cid engine as the impala at the time, wikipedia says it had around 170hp.
The Chevelle/Malibu, Impala/Caprice
I believe all 96 Caprice came with a lt1 engine. So if it the lt1, the stock hp would be 260. Same exact engine that is in the Impala SS for 94 95 96.
I have an 82' impala wagon and the factory 305 4bbl that is in it is rated at 145hp.
Top Speed of a 96 9C1 with LT1 engine...... 151MPH
You will be looking at an engine overhaul which can cost $2,500 to $3,000.
I don't see why they wouldn't. The police package (9C1) engine and tranny are just built heavier. The engine is beefed up a little more and so is the tranny. As far as I know they'll fit right in there.
The 4.3L is a 265 C.I. 8 cylinder engine was used in the 94-95 Caprice and Impala's As for the chip.. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_parts/performance_chip/chevrolet/caprice.html
Blow-by (Bad engine rings)
A stock Caprice has a 5.0 engine( the 305), the Police (actually called the 9C1 Caprice) Caprice has an Lt1 350, a very powerful motor that is easily modified. the 9C1 Caprice also has upgraded heavy duty sway bars, suspension, and axles with its 5 x 5 truck bolt pattern as opposed to stock 5 x 4.75 pattern. But there was also a Caprice Classic LT version which also had a LT1 V8 5.7L in 1996. And After the 1996 GM (General Motor Company) Changed that Caprice Into the Impala SS. But that Impala SS had sportier Leather Seats than LT version and Rear disk brakes, better than the drum brakes the LT's have.
The 2002 Chevrolet Impala has a V6 engine.
The 2011 Chevrolet Impala has a V6 engine.
