to change the shocks on the rear of the jaguar XJ-6, you need a spring compressor. compress the spring, loosen the top mount plate from under side of car. drop the axle as far as you can. undo the top mounting, then the lower. the car will have to be raised far enough to allow the shock to be removed and the replacement installed.

I have a 95 3000 same model so should be similiar and recently changed the alternator. I believe there is 3 bolts holding the alt to the mount. Leaving the alt attached to the mount, remove the bolts holding the mount to the engine. Once loose you have to remove the fan which is two plugs and I think 2 lower bolts. I twisted and turned every which way to get the alt out with fan in place but couldnt get passed it. Once mount assembly is out remove bolts holding the alt to the mount. Im pretty sure you can figure out installation.
