it is very unlikely. i have never seen a vw golf sdi from 2000 onwards without the central locking as standard. i have one the same model and bought it new, it was a standard feature on this model at least for the golf's we got in malta. js
take a wire put it true the window and lift the door button, after open go make spare key
You should be able to open it with the central locking device as well as with the key itself. By turning the key in a clockwise direction on the drivers side and anticlockwise on the passengers side it should open all the doors. luwelynt.co.za
In the boot on under the carpet on the right hand tail light
the pump on the 94 mk3 is located inside the right rear side , just toss the carpet that's covering there and you have acces to it , got mine out cuz i change my trunk door and it s a 98 model door , they have electric motor instead of that pump actuator!

Golf Central was created on 1995-01-17.
The central-locking system is pneumatically powered. The bi-pressure pump for the system is located in the rear of the car and can be heard during operation. Note: If the central locking system stops working but the pump can still be heard, this indicates a leak in the vacuum circuit. This is usually a result of a vacuum pipe becoming detached at a rubber coupling (check connections at the base of the 'B' pillar, under the carpet).
