Open Office will open Wordpad files without any difficulties. By default, Wordpad saves documents as 'rich text format' (.rtf) - you can specify different formats if you choose. OpenOffice will read rtf files without any problems.

If you mean can you write something using Microsoft Works word-processor - and open it using OpenOffice - yes you can ! OpenOffice will happily open .wks files.
Then you have to run custom firmware. There's a app for the PSP that's called: Explora Run that on your PSP, and you can delete, copy, open files in all folders on your PSP. Hope this helps

Excel 2007 creates xlsx files, and earlier versions of Excel create xls files. The earlier versions won't be able to open the 2007 files. So you need Excel 2007 to open them or get a converter or try and open them in Google docs.
