There is a hood release to the left of your leg when you are sat in the drivers seat. Once you have pulled that, go around to the front of the car and put two fingers....face down....into the space between the hood and the grill. You should feel a little give...apply more pressure and pull up with your free hand.
I've noticed with some later model 2002's there has been a color indicator (either yellow or red) and you have to feel for that (The lever not color) and then push it left and pull up with the free hand. You should be able to look once you've 'popped' the hood whether or not there is a color there indicating the release for the rest of the hood.

how to open hood with a broken cable on a 1994 ford explorer
When you open the hood for your engine compartment does the underhood light come on ? If not , it sounds like a dead battery or a poor cable connection to the battery
crowbar dude...
Type your answer here... Yes, it's for the alarm if the hood is jacked open.

Pull the inside hood release and then go to the front of the Explorer and press down on the hood slightly while operating the auxillary hood release located just under the front edge of the hood at the center
Slowly pour a few pitchers of cold water on the cracks
On the remote to open it you need to press the blue button on it.
Open hood, there will be 2 black metal slide locks in the back of the light assembly. After that, work the light assembly out the front, disconnect the plug and change out the light.
Reach through the plastic grill and pull cable!!!!!!
On the inside under the steering wheel there is a latch, then when it is poped up, to open it completely look under the hood and there is a lever just left of the center of the hood.
Well you need to pop the trunk and then rip that e brake and pow on it
