If you mean the cable that goes to your latch and its snapped or something easiest way to do it is basicly grab a hold of the cable and pull on it and of latch would.

if your'e lucky get under the car and reach up between the fan shroud and the motor, feel around for the latch and where the cable attaches to the latch, grab the cable with pliers and pull away from the latch if the space is too small the only other way i know of involves damaging your grill best of luck with this one =o)

Answerthe latch under the hood goes UP not DOWN :) I had a problem with my hood latch not fully closing. The horizontal spring behind the latch had disengaged. I reattached it using needle nose pliers and problem solved.

I had a very similar problem on my 1987 Civic sedan. You will need to jack up the front end, remove the flat plate just to the left of center behind the bumper, and with a long screwdriver locate and push up on the latch release. Once the hood pops open and you release the second safety latch, you will need to jerry-rig or replace the cable. Good luck.

I had this problem on a Chevy; the cable was broken and had to be replaced. Before I replaced it, I was able to crawl under the car and, using a screwdriver against the cable (near the hood latch), pushing against the cable with the screwdriver, the latch released.

Just had this happen to me... hope you don't mind unbolting stuff. I had my car parked for a year, and the latch had rust shut. The hood release cable wasn't able to budge the release at all. Unbolt the bottom bolts and screws of the front fender. That should leave the top part under the hood still attached. You should be able to pry the bottom part of the fender enough to work on the latch from under the car. Pull off the bottom part of the fender as much as you can. Go underneath the car and locate the hood latch. Take a 10mm wrench and remove the three bolts holding the latch in place. Remove the hood release cable from the latch. The hood should open now. i have a 1994 pnotiac sunbird that the handle broke off on the cable under the dash to open the hood. you can open the hood with a little patience and a fairly long screwdriver by releasing the latch under the hood. after this, on my sunbird, i just pulled the cable all the way out under the hood, tied it under the front of the car, and just pull it to release the switch. (thats only because i am too cheap and lazy to spend the money and time on a cable and install it.)
How do you fix a Broken cable on hood latch for 1994 Buick Roadmaster?
Remove the grill to access the broken cable. Cut the cable or see if the latch can be pushed manually. Broken cables have to be replaced totally. There are 2 or 3 screws under the dash and you will have to remove the bottom dash panel if it is still there. There are several plastic clips under the hood that can be reused, just follow the cable to find them. and there is a rubber grommet on the cable holding it in the firewall, this can be pushed into the car from under the hood and the new one pushed back in with a screwdriver. Other than that it is easy to remove the old cable from the latch and install the new one. You can get a good cable fairly cheap from a junk yard, just make sure the one you get is not damaged or corroded. Or if you prefer, a new replacement cable can be used.

get a hanger and straighten out . put small hook in one end. then crawl under front of van. if you get under far enough you will see the latch. just hook it with the wire and pull.(the latch has a hole in the drivers side of it).
