For the 4.7 model, if you follow the power steering line into the front radiator near the bumper you will see the (peacock sp?). Be very careful and turn it to drain the radiator. I think 11/16's is the ratchet adapter you need. I did mine today and it didnt drain very much, maybe mines is clogged or had to do with pressure.
The 2004 GMC radiator drain is located on the bottom of the radiator. The radiator drain plug can be removed with a half inch ratchet.
It is under the housing that the upper radiator hose hooks to on the engine.

In order to drain the radiator on a 2004 Pontiac GTO it is necessary to pull the lower radiator hose off. There is not a separate drain plug on this radiator.
It is between the bottom radiator hose and the engine; you will have to take the hose off to see it.
A 2004 Chevy Avalanche does not have a radiator drain. The front of the vehicle needs to be raised, then the bottom radiator hose disconnected to drain into a pan.

It's always on the back (or behind) the radiator on the bottom. You have to drain the radiator at times. If you still have problems, consult a "Chilton's" manual or repair book.
