You will need the proper gauge kit first.
With the engine stopped install the pressure gauge with the shutoff valve in the open position.
Start and idle the engine with the valve in the open position. Turn the wheel left and right several times to release any air bubbles and bring the fluid to normal operating temperature.
With the gauge connected, close the shutoff valve for 5 seconds and compare with manufacturers specifications.
you can do a pressure test to see if is pumping out the right psi.
power steering pump failure ----------------------- If it is a Dodge truck then i see alot of Power steering pump shafts that are broken. To test, then pull on the power steering pump pulley - if it pulls out then you have a broken pump shaft.
Pressure test ?? Cooling system? A/C? Fuel Pressure? Compression?
A coolant pressure test is used to detect a leak on the coolant system.
There should be no power to the steering arms, you have a hot wire going to ground somewhere there, pull various system fuses and retest with the light to narrow the search down to a specific electrical system, then at least you will know where to look.
Run a fuel pressure test with a fuel pressure gauge connected to the fuel rail.
Depand apone the system required pressure for water supply. it should be 1.5 times of max system pressure and for drainage only gravity pressure is enough to test the system.
With a radiator cap pressure tester. The tool usually comes along with a cooling system pressure test kit.
As per the Formula 1 website 2012/08/04: " Power steering systems are allowed, but these must not be electronically controlled or powered. Four-wheel steering is forbidden. The car's steering wheel, steering column and steering rack all have to pass an FIA impact test."
Hydrostatic test 48 hours depending on local code / height of the system / System working pressure rating / materials used in the system
The pressure piping alternative test method is the service test for piping system. The service test is however, only applicable to specific cases.
Well, have you actually done any sort of diagnosis? If there's no fluid leak visible, and there's fluid in the reservoir, then you have either a faulty power steering pump or gearbox. So then you disconnect the line from the pump to the gearbox and run a pressure test on it.. if that checks out, then it's probably your gearbox.
