First, make sure you have the correct remote.
FCC: E4EG8D-444H-A.
Also, do you have memory seats in your MDX? If so, make sure your remote says MEM 1 or MEM 2 on back.
For programming:
Do steps 1 - 12 on the same remote (AT TIME OF PROGRAMMING BOTH REMOTES MUST BE PRESENT SINCE THEY WILL NOW BOTH HAVE TO BE REPROGRAMMED.) The following steps 1-12 are done on a single remote step 10 is done on all remotes to be programmed up to 4 can be programmed
1) get into the car shut the doors (including trunk or tailgate) and make sure they are unlocked
2) turn on the ignition (number II position)(do not turn on the engine just the ignition til the dash lights come on) (LISTEN FOR A QUIET CLICK)
3) press the lock button on remote (turn to off) (Do not remove key)
4) quickly turn on the ignition (do not turn on the car just the ignition) (LISTEN FOR A QUIET CLICK)
5) press the lock button on remote (turn to off )
6) quickly turn on the ignition (do not turn on the car just the ignition) (LISTEN FOR A QUIET CLICK)
7) press the lock button on remote (turn to off )
8) quickly turn on the ignition (do not turn on the car just the ignition) (LISTEN FOR A QUIET CLICK)
9) press the lock button on the remote
the locks should cycle to indicate that programming mode was entered successfully
10) press the LOCK button on each remote you want programmed and the door locks should cycle again to confirm programming. THIS STEP NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR EACH REMOTE
11) turn off the car fully and remove key.
12) try locking/unlocking with remote to test
The important thing is to quickly turn the ignition off then on after hearing the click and pressing the lock button. If you hear the click in the off position, you waited too long and must start over.
This does work, I just used it to program my 2004 MDX, 10 minutes ago. Although it took a couple tries.
The 1989 Buick Park Avenue does not come with a remote keyless entry. The keyless remote entry was not available till 1997.
check in your owners manual if you have it.
The dealership scan tool is required.
To program your keyless remote, locate the dark green program enable wire and connect to the wire enable terminal. Insert your ignition key and turn the switch to on while depressing either button on the transmitter. Disconnect the program enable wire terminal and remove the key from the ignition.
Mine didn't come with a keyless remote.
It was optional.
Follow this link and you're good to go. Let me know if you have any questions. I've done this myself so I know how to do it. .ehow.com/how_7291758_program -remote-1997-buick-lesabre.html#ixzz1HA YkCKDX
To program the keyless entry remote you hold down the lock and unlock keys at the same time while within 10ft of vehicle to make sure you are within range of the remote for approx 10 seconds. the vehicle will alert with a short horn sound. if it does not respond, repeat. should only take 1-3 tries before it's done
Try: http://www.programyourremote.com/ It has instructions for 1997-2000 models, perhaps they'll work with the 1996 model. Good luck!
You have to go to the dealership to have your keyless remote reprogrammed. They have a scan tool to tell the computer that you are using a new key fob. I just did it to my 1997 sebring. I knew the service manager, so he let me borrow it, it took me about 15 minutes, most will do it for a small fee, some will do it as a courtesy.
How do I re-program a remote for a 1997 mazda millinea?
it might need a new battery, that happened with mine.
