jack rear end up and put on jack stands. remove rear wheels (or wheel) remove brake drumor disc brake rotor and cailper .remove cover from the center of rear end under car. with cover removed you will see a big gear . on both sides you will two large bolts dont mess with these with transmission in neutrul turn gear by hand till you see a bolt on the carrier . it should be half inchor 9/16 or metric equevlent remove bolt turn gear 1/4 turn there is a square block in the middle . push this out of center . push in on the axel c clip will be on the end of axel . it may fall off if not pull off and remove axel
ps the gear is bolted to the carrier so when you turn the gear you turn the carrier just wanted to make that clear ok have fun and good luck

If you push back the door panel, you should see a retaining clip behind the center of the crank. Pull it out with a small needle nose pliers.
