Make sure that the brake adjuster is screwed in to the minimum setting. the drum will be tight but should slide on. The adjuster can be extended with a brake tool or screwdriver through the hole in the backer plate.

Light coating of grease on the axle flange before reinstalling, or create a wax paper gasket and put in before installing drum.

How to change a rear cylinder in a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim?

First you have to jack the car up after loosening your lug nuts and then you remove the wheel. After you do this, you have to pull the brake drum off. Next, dis assemble the brakes then disconnect the brake line from the wheel cylinder. Then you remove the two bolts holding the wheel cylinder on and put the new one in. Re install the bolts, and brake line, put the brakes back on, put the drum back on and bleed the brakes. Put your wheel back on and drive away.

It is indeed possible, but it is going to be a lot of work. The engineers who designed the car felt that drum brakes would be best for the car, and it is wise to leave them as drum brakes instead of disc.

How do you remove rear brake drums from a 2002 Toyota Sienna?

1. For your own safety, put stoppers on the other 3 wheels. DO NOT put the foot (hand) brake on or you will have difficulty in removing the brake drum. 2. jack and remove the wheel. 3. pull the drum off and rock and tap slightly if there are rusts or debris that preventing the drum pull out, no hammer is necessary! There are two 8x1.25mm threaded bolt holes in each drum that you can run bolts through and it will push off the drum. Just changed my rear brake shoes last weekend and this worked perfectly to get the rusty drums loose.

Where on a 1985 Chevy Camaro rear brake diagram?

First off is the question where is not where on? If you took both sides off at the same time you obviousely don't know how to put it back together, but the good news is Chevy virtually made all rear drum brake assembly's the same. So all you have to do is pull the drum off the same type of system and monkey see monkey do.

How do you know the proper rear brake adjustment on a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme?

Assuming it is rear DRUM brakes, adjust the shoe until there is friction when spinning the wheel or drum, back off a shade. Most have self ajusters on them. Ajust them out until the drum will hardly fit back on. After you put the wheels back on and your done with putting the brake shoes on. Find a place where you can run your car in reverse safely. Go bakwards about 25 miles an hour and hit the brakes hard. Do this several times and they should ajust themselves out to where they should be. This is assuming like above we are talking about the back brakes and they are drum style brakes.
