There are several things you can do. Probably the most important thing is to use common sense- don't click on links titled "13.42.46", or anything that looks like that. Be careful about where you enter your email address: Believe me, you will not win $10,000 just from being the 1,000,000th person to visit the site. One other thing you can do is get an email scanner- AVG is just one of the many anti-virus programs there are.

Get yourself a good virus scanner... there are plenty of free ones out there. For example, I particularly like Avast. Rule of thumb... if you don't know who sent it to you, DON'T OPEN IT! Free virus scanners can let their own ones in though so don't be too trusting. Norton or Symantec is good. Rule of thumb can fail if person sending email doesn't know there own computer is infected with a download virus, even if you know them. So best way to avoid getting viruses- Don't get email. how to prevent email danger would be by simply doing a virus check...... most likely the virus would accurate in forwards and your spam inbox.... simply delete those messages or just do the virus check
